On Tuesday, Apple released a major update to Final Cut Pro X, its professional video-editing program for Mac.

Version 10.4.9 offers improved workflows and social media tools (machine-learning-based crops helps you format video for platforms such as Instagram and Snapchat, shown above), along with a number of new features and the usual performance improvements under the hood.

The companion programs Motion and Compressor have also been updated.

Motion gets new 3D modelling features (below) and Stroke Filter, which automatically outlines object and text.

Compressor gains support for custom LUT effects (below), among other things.

If you want to know more, read Apple”s press release. The update is available as usual via the Mac App Store and is free for existing users. For new customers, Final Cut Pro X costs £299.99/US$299.99, while Motion and Compressor cost £48.99/$49.99 each.
